RIP Nipsey

Can't believe what happened. I remember I met you back in 2010 in New York at a magazine launch party. It was right around the time the Marathon mixtape came out. From our conversation, I could tell that you had a deeper vision for what you wanted to accomplish... and you took drastic steps over the years to make those goals a reality. What amazed me about you was that you treated everyone like a homie, especially a stranger like me at the time. I'll always remember that.

At the time, I was a supporter of your music... but over the years, you became a true inspiration. As your following grew, your impact widened. You took the time to make positive change in a community that desperately needed it. It saddens me that someone would do something so senseless and heinous to someone that was doing so much for the culture.

We're all hurt by what took place today. All I can say is that I'm grateful that I got to meet you a few times throughout your journey and I'll always take your advice to heart, which was that if you stay loyal to your passion and your loved ones... you will find eternal peace.

Prayers to you and your family. Thank you for everything you've done for LA.
