On October 18th, I attended Ready to Learn, an inner-city youth reading program coordinated by the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce at Aurora Elementary School.
I spent time with the children by reading to them, as well as helping them with an arts/craft project related to their reading.
Reading is so essential for academic success and Ready to Learn has helped children develop an enthusiasm for reading by making it fun and interacting with their peers. I encourage everybody to join the program because it will have a positive impact on the futures of the children. A morning of your time could make all the difference to a child.
